Some gunmen suspected to be armed bandits on Wednesday, stormed Albasun Liman Village in Sabuwa Local Government Area in Katsina State, kidnapping nine persons.
DAILY POST reports that among the kidnapped persons was a student of Government Secondary School Damari in the state.
According to residents of the area, the attack took place at about 12:30 am on Wednesday, December 30, 2020.
“The villagers had already gone to bed when we started hearing gun shots that woke everybody from sleep,” one of the villagers lamented.
A source told our reporter that the kidnapped student was identified as Umar Muawiya, SS2 student of Government Secondary School Damari in Sabuwa Local Government Area of the state.

MANY residents of communities in Batsari and Jibiya local government areas of Katsina State have relocated to the headquarters of the two councils following recent alleged renewed bandit attacks in the two councils.
A community leader in Jibiya Local Government Area, Mallam Gide Dahiru, also revealed that many communities in the council were now on self-imposed curfew from 7pm till morning to avoid being kidnapped or attacked by the bandits.
Dahiru, who is also the chairman of Jibiya Peoples Forum, alleged that three women were kidnapped along with their babies on Sunday in a village called Pulka Mabile along Zamfara road.

Gunmen suspected to be bandits, on Sunday night, reportedly killed the leader of a vigilante group in Maigora town in Faskari Local Government Area of Katsina state, Malam Ummaru Balli.
The bandits also allegedly abducted eight persons during the attack which took place in Rimi village in Sabuwa Local Government Area of the state.
It was learnt that Mallam Balli had led other vigilante members to Rimi to tackle the bandits operating there on that night.
Residents further disclosed that the vigilante group engaged the bandits in a gun duel leading to the death of Mallam Balli.
