didn t really spend that much time with my brother. maybe i don t really know what he sounds like. i didn t understand the point of the cross-examination. i don t think it was effective. this is one of the first times mr. o mara has fallen short. there was no reason to confront him that way and ask the questions. didn t spend much time with him. i don t think the jury responded well to that. he s so much older than trayvon martin. five or six years older. in a normal, usual family relationship when you re college age you re really not as connected to your high school aged brother. it s still your brother. my brother is four years younger than i am. we re not always going out together. i will still recognize his voice if i hear it on a tape. trayvon martin s mother sabrina is back on the stand. there was a long break while attorneys talked about whether certain evidence could be introduced at trial and do you think the jury they
bring on other witnesses after the defense puts on their case, number one. number two, i think it was pretty strong when you listen to the directed verdict arguments today. it was very powerful, some of the things that the attorney said in representing the state s interests in doing so. it was very pointed and very clear. but also, too, when the judge made her ruling, she made it very clear that improving the case for second-degree murder, that she believed that the state had put on both direct evidence and circumstantial evidence supporting the case and the charges. i think many people though know joa, judgment of acquittal, is procedure at best and that was anticipated that this judge, you know, would toss out the defense argument that there s not enough evidence. but let me move on, on an emotional level, you re in touch with the family, sir. we saw sabrina martin testify early this morning, this grieving mother. i can t imagine having to sit there and speak about a dead
0 that was your son screaming, even before you heard him, correct? i didn t hope anything. i just simply listened to the tape. in case your case his mother there is no doubt that it was him screaming? absolutely. did you have any thought in mind how you would react if you didn t hear your son s voice? i didn t really know what the tape was all about. and everybody else in the room when they listened to the tape, who was the first one to react? i was. and everybody else then reacted similarly to you, correct? well, they also heard the tape themselves. correct. and every one of them then told you that they agree with your opinion that it was trayvon martin s voice, correct? they didn t tell me anything. when you mentioned a moment ago that you didn t know what the tape was about, nobody spoke to you to tell you that you would soon be listening to screams from the event that led to your son s death? no. mayor triplett never said anything like that to you? no.
bloodied knows and back of the head here george zimmerman, have you to think and assume that we re going down this path where we also i say we, the court, the jurors will be seeing pictures of trayvon martin of a body of a 17-year-old and, again, i am reminded not just of the jurors sitting in that courtroom but of sabrina martin who has to see the body of their child. i m sure that that s coming. i m sure the medical examiner will tell the victim s family what s coming up so they can prepare themselves for being in the courtroom or making the decision not to be in the courtroom. sabrina fulton and tracy martin at different times in the courtroom have left because they felt some of the testimony was too graphic for them. i suspect they know when that s coming.
