NEW KKIA is a critical asset for Sabah’s future economy. I applaud the initiative by Qhazanah Sabah Bhd to undertake a study on the new KKIA with a W Malaysian company. Present KKIA is already a very important asset.
Sabahans First Policy is 1st of its kind in Sabah. Like the saying goes, there are policies AND there are pivotal policies. Some policies produce negative impacts, some fail to produce any benefits for the intended recipients for many reasons, only a tiny number benefit a small number of people.
I agree with Datuk Jeffry Kitingan that Arnie Jaliusih of Kiulu is not an isolated case. Very striking and most saddening is that Arnie’s home is just over an hour’s drive from KK and yet such level of poverty can exist.
Sabah’s total land area is 7.3631 million hectares of which [a] Gazetted Forest reserve is 3,574,468 hectares which constitutes about 48.6% of Sabah’s total land mass. [b] 232,000 NT covering about 1 million hectares. [c] Oil palm plantations covering about 1.73 million hectares. [d] 33 FMU consisting of 1.6 million hectares.
SABAH reminds me of “water, water everywhere, not a drop to drink” in the poem of The Rime of the Ancient Mariner. Water is one of Sabah’s most serious ironies – Sabah has one of the highest rainfalls but our taps are dry almost every day. Many homes are without piped water. Of course, we know what has gone wrong.
