STUARTS DRAFT Simone Marion ran for her first state office in Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) two years ago as a seventh-grader at Stuarts Draft Middle School.
She had joined the organization a year before. I like to think it was because I wanted the opportunity, said Marion, now about to wrap up her freshman year at Stuarts Draft High School. But I really heard it was the funnest club in school.
According to the Stuarts Draft Middle School website, the local chapter of FCCLA is part of a national student-led organization that helps students become leaders and address important personal, family, work and societal issues through family and consumer sciences education.
