Regina city council is moving ahead with some bylaw amendments to make it easier for developers to build homes in an attempt to meet its density intensification targets faster.
Scarth Street has operated as a pedestrian walkway in downtown Regina for nearly 50 years. That could come to end as the city looks to revitalize the area.
A new arena proposed by the catalyst committee is expected to cost $156 million. Experts are it's doubtful it would bring major economic benefits to downtown Regina, but delaying the move by a decade could boost its eventual cost by 80 per cent.
Regina's executive committee has begun the process of deciding where and when it could begin to construct a series of mega-projects in the downtown core.
