CLEMSON, S.C. – In her second event as a Clemson Tiger, newcomer Gladys Chepngetich finishes first in the Women’s 6K at the Furman Invitational. The Clemson women finished 3rd overall while the men finished 4th in the Men’s 6K. “To see Clemson cross the line first is always a great thing to see. Walking away from this one, I see some things we need to work on as a group but overall, especially with the women’s performances, I think it was really good,” Head Coach Vicky Pounds said. Chepngetich stayed within the lead for most of the event as the freshman found herself leading the group in the third lap. In the fourth and final loop, Chepngetich used her speed to push herself past the other leaders and cross the finish line with an impressive time of 20 minutes and 47 seconds.
