This morning. Chopper five is over what is left. The investigation into what happened is just beginning. Kpix 5 reporter is on the scene. Firefighters believe the building could collapse at any moment. Reporter yeah it is looking very unstable. The fire is continuing to burn in some spots in that building. The flames grew in a matter of minutes after the fire was reported just before 5 00 last night. Today we are learning that construction workers had been using a welding torch on one of the buildings upper floors in the hours before that fire broke out. The investigation into the exact cause continues. This was a horrific fire. Reporter mayor ed lee says he watched it all on live tv last night. When i saw the embers jump a block away and saw nobody on the roof but flames, i said we have to take care of that.
