Verdict. Stowe was not in court, the family says the sisters will tell him about this verdict. We were in the courthouse and the judge was named victor e. Chavez, and im going to tell bryan it was victory chavez. I feel like it is a victory. It is a big weight off our shoulders, we have been waiting three years for this. Stowes parents say he requires 24hour care, the suit asked for 37 and a half million for his Lifetime Care and compensation for lost earnings. So again, that verdict is 18 million in total. The award includes more than 2 million for stowes past earnings and future. He worked as a paramedic before he was attacked. More than 10 million, and 5 million for economic losses, the pain and suffering by stowe and his family. The family had sought 50 million. They laid the rest of the blame on the men who pled guilty in the attack. This morning. Chopper five is over what is left. The investigation into what happened is just beginning. Kpix 5 reporter is on the scene. Firefighters believe the building could collapse at any moment. Reporter yeah it is looking very unstable. The fire is continuing to burn in some spots in that building. The flames grew in a matter of minutes after the fire was reported just before 5 00 last night. Today we are learning that construction workers had been using a welding torch on one of the buildings upper floors in the hours before that fire broke out. The investigation into the exact cause continues. This was a horrific fire. Reporter mayor ed lee says he watched it all on live tv last night. When i saw the embers jump a block away and saw nobody on the roof but flames, i said we have to take care of that. Reporter the manager of the ucsf building put it out himself as half of the citys firefighters about 150 worked to contain the original fire and the burning debris it spewed. What
