Quewezance would usually spend Canada Day celebrating at the lake with a beer. He’s not beyond painting himself red and cheering “Canada! Canada! Canada!” at a hockey game.

So it’s little surprise his wardrobe is full of red. But this year, he was the odd one out. He brought his five-year-old daughter to dance for Buffalo Day events at Buffalo Meadows Park, where most everyone wore orange to mark the legacy of residential schools. For Quewezance, it was therapy.
