Egremont man admits violent attack in town pub
An Egremont man has admitted a violent attack which occurred at a town pub.
Ryan Gordon Barton, 38, faced one charge when he appeared in front of a judge at Carlisle Crown Court earlier today.
Barton pleaded guilty to unlawfully and maliciously inflicting grievous bodily harm upon Adam Elliott on 4th July last year. This follows an incident at the Wheatsheaf pub, Market Place.
The court heard Bartonâs legal team had proposed a formal basis for his admission, although this is not accepted by the prosecution.Â
As a result, a hearing is due to take place, with witnesses called to give evidence in front of a judge, who will then decide the level of the defendantâs guilt before passing sentence.
