Last week, Twitch deleted the face of its extremely popular PogChamp emote, Ryan “Gootecks” Gutierrez, after he called for further violence at the Capitol just after a mob sacked the building. In the aftermath, Twitch responded to a suggestion from the community for the emote why not have a different face represent hype on Twitch every day?
Yo @Twitch suggestion for PogChamp: create a database of streamer and/or general faces. Whenever someone types PogChamp, display one of those faces at random. Twitch Disables Donald Trump s Account Following Attack on Capitol
This marks the second time Twitch has suspended the President s account.
Following Wednesday’s attack on the US Capitol by pro-Trump insurrectionists, Twitch has disabled the account of President Donald Trump.
In a statement to Polygon, a Twitch spokesperson said “In light of yesterday’s shocking attack on the Capitol, we have disabled President Trump’s Twitch channel. Given the current extraordinary circumstances and the President’s incendiary rhetoric, we believe this is a necessary step to protect our community and prevent Twitch from being used to incite further violence.”
Yesterday’s siege was the result of dangerous language espoused by the President. Prior to a mob of pro-Trump extremists storming into the Capitol building and occupying the halls of both the Senate and Congress, Trump told his followers to march to the Capitol and make their voices heard. TWITCH has axed one of its most popular emotes following dangerous comments made by the star of the image.
Streamer Ryan Gootecks Gutierrez, whose wide-eyed face features in the PogChamp emote, encouraged his Twitter followers to continue the civil unrest after violent protesters stormed Capitol Hill on Wednesday, January 6.
