A Mayfield group focused on the community’s recovery from the deadly and historic tornado outbreak that impacted the region last year hit a big milestone Monday, giving its first newly renovated home to an unhoused survivor.

After the tornado outbreak, more than $52 million in donations poured into the Team Western Kentucky Tornado Relief Fund from all over the country. The money has been disbursed in several ways, including paying for funeral expenses, new housing and $1,000 checks to survivors. But some survivors are still trying to figure out where the rest of the money has gone.
