Eastern European Rotary shared a video of their friend’s very unique Mazda RX-8. The story goes the RX-8 was purchased with a bad 1.3 L Renesis two-rotor. Instead of rebuilding it, they swapped it for a 5.0 L 1GZ-FE V12 f.
Kevin Awadsn and his Mazda RX-8 built by PAC Performance attended Sydney Dragway for Sydney Jamboree. While there Kevin set a personal best of 7.149 sec at 187.50 mph in the quarter-mile. The RX-8 is powered by a turbocha.
Mazda RX-8 with a 825 whp Turbo 1UZ V8
Swedish drifter Jonas Franzén competes in a Mazda RX-8 powered by a turbocharged Toyota 1UZ V8. Last year the engine produced 780 hp and 1050 Nm (774 lb-ft) of torque to the wheels on 1.7 bar (24.6 psi) of boost. Since then they rebuilt the engine with Kelford camshafts and installed a new intake manifold and larger turbocharger. It’s now making 825 hp and 1000 Nm (737 lb-ft) of torque to the wheels on 1.4 bar (20.3 psi) of boost. They also raised the limit from 7,000 rpm to 7,500 rpm. Marshall High School students rebuild Mazda RX-8

MARSHALL, Texas (KLTV) - Some Marshall High School students were able to rebuild a sports car.
Automotive teacher Troy Jones said he owned the blue 2005 Mazda RX-8 for several years, he said his son had driven it for a while. He said over the years, it had fallen into disrepair and had received some damage. Jones said it became a project car for the automotive class at Marshall High.
“The kids have done everything from cleaning up the computer on it, installing all new wiring, sorting out some wiring issues, new sound system, complete new suspension from lower control arms all the way to the top, adjustible coil overs, they’ve really done a lot of work on this car.” Jones said.
Mazda RX-8 with a Turbo K20 and DCT
This Mazda RX-8 was built by Dr. Danish Speedshop. The car originally came with a 1.3 L RENESIS two-rotor but is now powered by a turbocharged Honda K20 inline-four. The owner drove the car with the factory RX-8 six-speed manual but eventually swapped to a BMW E93 M3 dual-clutch transmission running a DKG transmission controller.
