For the first time in its history, Krishnapuram Residents’ Association had missed its annual general meeting, with the question of conducting it dragging on for a year. Thanks to the pandemic, the 30-year-old RWA in Ambattur could not conduct its AGM, supposed to have been conducted in September 2020.
“There was no way we would get a quorum as COVID-19 cases were still high in Chennai,” says S Muralikrishna, advisor to the Association.

On an almost similar note, RWAs believe the Greater Chennai Corporation(GCC) could have brought more mobile vegetable vendors on board.
Complaints of this kind particularly come from RWAs on East Coast Road (ECR) and Old Mahabalipuram Road (OMR).

Groups organising vaccination camps describe communication and queue management as a key factor in defining the quality of a camp. Shri Jain Sangh Kodambakkam, for instance, had only a WhatsApp flyer circulated among its members, but at the camp held on May 28, people from far-off areas were in attendance. Those who wanted to get the jab had to send their name, age and phone number through through a WhatsApp number and they were allotted a slot, a day before the camp.
