bahamas we don t know what s going on. we cannot get there. part of the highway has been washed out. so we can only assess the areas by boat. and even some of the water has been clogged. during the daytime we were able to get to certain areas. but at night we cannot get to assist persons because there s no electricity. there s no running water. and even two gas stations here and we don t know the condition of the gas. obviously there s all sorts of things in a storm like this, gas is critical. there s logistical stuff people don t think about. that you need in order to be able to start doing rescue and be able to get basic information out. are there enough medical personnel, supplies, both especially abaco. which obviously they have been
storm surge in the area. that s going to back up into the river system and flood the area. so that s the biggest concern. even the outer banks could see five to 7 feet of storm surge. when you talk about the river levels rising we could have a second or thrd highest river level in history. as far as the charleston area is concerned. record is 12.5 feet. from hugo in 1989. you know how bad that storm was. we could get close to that with this one. the biggest part of this is people are fatigued from the storm. it lasted so long. we have been talking about it so long. you have to remember it s not over yet. for the carolinas. this could be a big deal. up the coast in north carolina. i appreciate it. thank you. randi kaye is in charleston. in front of the one of the rivers. what are the conditions like?
