Sulphur Springs School District Board Opposes Controversial Sand Canyon Hotel, Resort Project
The Sulphur Springs Union School District Board of Trustees objected to the construction of the Sand Canyon Hotel and Resort in the Sand Canyon neighborhood of Santa Clarita last Wednesday.
On June 23, the Sulphur Springs Union School District Board of Trustees approved a resolution opposing the construction of the Sand Canyon Hotel and Resort, aligning itself with many disgruntled residents of the area, according to the Sand Canyon Homeowners Association (SCHOA).
“We’re delighted that the school district is doing that because they’re very credible,” said SCHOA Board President Ruthann Levison. “Of course they have a big concern because of how traffic on Lost Canyon could affect kids.”

In a startling move, the community of Canyon Country, on the east side of the Santa Clarita Valley received approval from the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors to split off from both the City of Santa Clarita and Los Angeles County. The new entity has been named Canyon Country County.
“The three ‘C’s’ are catchy,” beamed the selected head of the new county, Bob Kellar. “Sweet Lord, you should have seen the other choices. None of them would stand the cancel culture test in today’s environment.”
