Latest Installment of MCPS Online Career Talk Series Features Healthcare Workers
Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS) will be holding a new installment of “Let’s Talk Careers”. The new installment is scheduled for 10–11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, April 28.
The career series is held monthly by MCPS students who discuss different career journeys with professionals, leaders and entrepreneurs from a variety of fields.
According to MCPS, confirmed guest include:
Travis Gayles, Montgomery County Health Officer and Chief, Public Health Services
Anna Maria Izquierdo-Porrera, executive director and co-founder, Care for Your Health, Inc.
Ruth Williams-Brinkley, regional president, Mid-Atlantic States, Kaiser Permanente.

PeaceHealth named Carol Aaron and Ruth Williams-Brinkley to its board of directors. Aaron returns after retiring from her role as PeaceHealth’s executive vice president and chief administrative officer in 2019. Aaron has worked as a system health care executive leader at St. Joseph Health, Sutter Health and Alexian Brothers in California. In addition to serving as a board member, Williams-Brinkley is president of Kaiser Foundation Health Plan of the Mid-Atlantic States. Williams-Brinkley joined Kaiser Permanente in 2017, serving as president of Kaiser Foundation Health Plan and Hospitals of the Northwest. Prior to that she was employed as CEO of KentuckyOne Health and other health systems.

With more than 30 years of healthcare experience, Aaron’s deeply held commitment to community health as well as her passion for organizational talent development makes her a valuable addition to the PeaceHealth system board.

Aaron returns to PeaceHealth as a member of the Board of Directors. She retired from her role as PeaceHealth’s executive vice president and chief administrative officer at the end of 2019 after nine years of service. As the chief administrative officer, she was responsible for Human Resources, Mission Services, Governance, Marketing and Communications, and Business Integration. The Community Foundation for Loudoun and Northern Fauquier Counties has created a new Minority Owned Small Business Grant Program. The program was funded by Google, with help from Kaiser Permanente of the Mid-Atlantic States.
Google provided $50,000 to the Community Foundation with the goal of supporting minority-owned small businesses impacted by COVID-19. Kaiser Permanente contributed another $25,000, bringing the total amount of funding available to $75,000.
Small businesses are invited to apply to receive gransts of $5,000 to $10,000. Organizations eligible to apply must demonstrate 51 percent of their ownership are residents of Loudoun County and identify as African American, Asian American, Hispanic American, or Native American.
