Christian Federation urges churches to pray for enforced disappearance victims on 4th anniversary of missing pastor Raymond Koh

By Keertan Ayamany Christian Federation of Malaysia chairman Archbishop Julian Leow Beng Kim today called on all churches in Malaysia to pray for pastor Raymond Koh for the next two weekends to mark the 4 th anniversary of the mysterious abduction of Pastor Raymond Koh. Koh was abducted on Feb 13, 2017, in what has been deemed an enforced disappearance. Leow in a statement today, also urged Christians to pray for other victims of “enforced disappearances”, namely social activist Amri Che Mat, and pastor Joshua Hilmy together with his wife Ruth Sitepu all of whom disappeared in 2016. “For the next two weekends February 6 to 7 and February 13 to 14 we ask all churches to remember and pray for Pastor Raymond, Amri Che Mat, Joshua Hilmy, Ruth Sitepu and their families. May they know that we stand in solidarity with them on their continuous journey of uncertainty.

Suhakam Inquiry for Missing Pastor Disappointed After Evidence Withheld 01/12/2021 Malaysia (International Christian Concern) – The Human Rights Commission of Malaysia (Suhakam) panel, working on the case of missing pastor Joshua Hilmy and his wife Ruth Sitepu, expressed today its disappointment in the authorities as they withheld certain evidence. According to Free Malaysia Today, the third investigating officer tasked to probe Hilmy’s disappearance, Zulfadhly Yaacob, said there were two items requested by Suhakam that he could not produce because of orders from the Attorney-General’s Chambers (AGC). He said the reason given was that leaking or giving the information to third parties would hinder the police investigation and efforts to trace the victims and potential suspects. He also added that the deputy public prosecutor (DPP) involved said there was no proof that police had breached any human rights in their probe.

Comm (Rt) Datuk Awaludin Jadid, the former principal assistant director of Special Branch s Social Extremism Division (E2), was agitated when he was questioned about a speech that he had made about extremism in November 2016. “Why are we referring to an old ceramah in 2016? I don’t understand why. What is the reason. I have already given the same answer. Why don’t you just refer to the transcript or notes of proceedings on that, ” he said on Wednesday (Jan 6) in response to questions by Bar Council observer Lim Heng Seng.
