KEYSER - Clearway Energy has begun construction on the Black Rock Wind Farm to be located approximately five miles south of the existing Pinnacle Wind Farm.
Planned construction of the wind farm, which reaches from Mineral County into Grant County, was initially announced in May 2019.
Announcement that construction has not officially begun on the wind farm was made Monday afternoon by Gov. Jim Justice and Clearway Energy CEO Craig Cornelius.
“This is a great move for the state of West Virginia,” Gov. Justice said, noting that the addition of the wind farm will help the state diversify its energy program.

KEYSER - The new West Virginia Division of Motor Vehicles office will be located in the former Ponderosa Restaurant at the Potomac Plaza beside Keyser Walmart.
A spokesperson for the DMV confirmed earlier this week that the Romney office, currently located at Sunrise Summit, will be moving to Keyser.
According to Del. Gary Howell, who has been working on getting the DMV to locate a site in Mineral County for some time, the targeted opening date is March 1.
Howell told the News Tribune there was a budget item requesting a new DMV site in the Eastern Panhandle, and “we thought we were getting that one.”

KEYSER - The West Virginia Division of Motor Vehicles has set the wheels in motion to move its Romney regional office to Keyser in Spring 2021.
According to an article by senior editor Jim King in this week’s Hampshire Review, the new site is to be located near Keyser’s Walmart.
In early November the Real Estate Division of the West Virginia Department of Administration ran a “solicitation of interest” ad in the News Tribune, seeking offers from anyone interested in providing property for the new site, either on a lease/rental or new construction basis.
The Division of Motor Vehicles will move its regional office from Romney to a site to be constructed near the Keyser Walmart by spring.
The announcement last week caught local political leaders and employees at the office on Sunrise Summit by surprise.
âIâm shocked,â Delegate Ruth Rowan said Monday. âI had no idea that this was going on or even being considered.â
DMV said Friday it has signed a letter of intent for a facility to be built in the plaza beside the Keyser Walmart.
DMV had advertised in the Hampshire Review on Sept. 2 that it was soliciting interest from bidders for a facility in the Romney area as its lease expired on the current site on Sunrise Summit.
