Yellowknife school gyms will reopen to outside user groups with OCPHO exemptions on Nov. 8. School board superintendents reversed their decision to keep gyms closed until December, following a meeting earlier this week where they were made aware the OCPHO was providing exemptions for groups that adhere to proper protocols.
Three Yellowknife school boards confirmed that school gyms would remain closed to outside user groups until at least Dec. 1. After then, superintendents said they would review the decision monthly.
Now that gathering restrictions have changed in the N.W.T., the City of Yellowknife is re-opening most of its facilities back up to the public. But, there are limits.
The City of Yellowknife needs voter approval to borrow a portion of what it will cost to build a new aquatic centre to replace its aging pool and meet demand for aquatic programming in 2024.
