there s a place whose name is whispered in awe by pizza fans everywhere from brooklyn to bangkok, and enzo is taking me there. as a pizza lover, i only ever buy cans of san marzano tomatoes. and now i m heading to the promised land. although i hadn t quite expected it to be a small farm under a freeway. we re meeting enzo s special supplier, uncle vincenzo. behind his rusty gates, i m reminded that here in italy treasures are to be found in the most unlikely locations. i ve eaten san marzano tomatoes all around the world. but the bright, balanced flavor of these is like nothing i ve ever tasted. that s it? yeah, i know, impossible .
There is nothing better than a sunny, autumn day in the Hat City. The history of the city feels more tangible and the colors jump at your eyes. If you can overlook the honking horns and the manic screams (I can), a ride down Main Street in the fall could brighten anyone's perspective.
Like all small New England towns/cities it has a heartbeat, a long-history. A lot of that history lies in the old mansions that line Deer Hill Avenue. So, it makes sense that these beautiful dwellings would serve as the backdrop for one of Danbury's most popular events. Halloween on Deer Hill Avenue IS an event, every year and 2022 was no exception.
The Danbury Museum & Historical Society is hosting two free events tomorrow (10/15/22). The first begins at 2pm, it's an exhibit that celebrates The Great Danbury State Fair.
