SAN ANTONIO – We may have changed calendars to 2021, but we haven’t been able to leave some of last year’s issues behind us yet. While an amended San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo will still go on, the carnival this year is officially canceled.
Lauren Sides, a spokesperson for the rodeo, said rodeo officials decided to forgo the carnival “with regard to the health and safety of patrons, exhibitors, athletes and volunteers.”

2021 San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo Tickets Go on Sale This Week

Ticket sales open Thursday for a reimagined 2021 San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo.
Executive director and CEO Cody Davenport says they’ll take the rodeo from the AT&T Center back to the Freeman Coliseum, where it was held prior to 2003, and create a retro-feeling event that focuses on the traditional rodeo events plus the livestock show, which already has attracted 17,500 entries from youth. The smaller venue allows for more safety during COVID-19 and only a limited number of seats will be available to allow for social distancing. “It’s going to be a heck of a memory,” Davenport said during a Facebook Live update on Dec. 16.
