A week-long protest of the wives of mobilized Russian soldiers, The Way Home, began in the center of Moscow on Feb. 3 with the demand that authorities return the men from the war of aggression against Ukraine, the Russian Telegram news channel SOTA reports.
The Russian authorities are trying to suppress public protests by the wives of Russian soldiers, including through pay-offs and discrediting them online, following small protests in Moscow in November, UK Defense Intelligence said in a report posted on X on Dec. 2.
Russian military personnel and their relatives see their long-term deployment at the front without the possibility of rotation as unsustainable, the UK’s Defense Intelligence said in its latest Ukraine situation report, published on Nov. 20.
