The Sri Lanka Association of Inbound Tour Operators ( SLAITO) yesterday welcomed the government decision to open up the airports for commercial operations this week and was elated that 3 million jobs, both direct and indirect employment opportunities will be reinstated.

Colombo (News 1st); Approximately 150 Ukrainian tourists currently in Sri Lanka visited Kandy on Monday (11) and also paid a visit to the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic.
When they were about to leave the premises, Venerable Lewelle Dhammalankara Thero highlighted the risk posed to the locals upon the arrival of the Ukrainian tourists.
“This visit was organized without informing the Mahanayake’s of the Malwathu and Asgiri Chapters, and even the governor of the central province,” the Venerable Thero alleged.

Colombo (News 1st); 02 more tourists from Ukraine have tested positive for COVID-19 and the total number of infected Ukrainians in Sri Lanka has risen to 05, confirmed authorities.
A total of 394 Ukrainians arrived in Sri Lanka on two separate occasions and following their arrival at the Mattala International Airport, they were moved to several hotels in the Southern Province.
Rajiv Sooriyaarachchi, Vice Chairman of Airport and Aviation Services (Sri Lanka) (Private) Limited speaking to News 1st said the tourists were only permitted to arrive after completing a PCR test adding, thereafter there is a possibility of them contracting the virus.
