GIBSONBURG - With a long track record of honoring military and public service, Gibsonburg has become known for its memorials and tributes to veterans.
In honor of its dedication, members of the Military Order of the Purple Heart s Chapter 31 in Dayton presented Mayor Steve Fought with a plaque in honor of the village s new designation as a Purple Heart Village.
The village hosted a Purple Heart Village dedication ceremony Thursday at Williams Park, with state legislators Rep. Gary Click and Sen. Bill Reineke, as well as Sandusky County Commissioner Russ Zimmerman, reading proclamations honoring Gibsonburg for its new designation.
