COLUMBIA BASIN – More than 200 local athletes earned all-league honors during the fall sports season, ranging from honorable mentions to players of the year. Read along to see what awards athletes from all 12 local schools earned this fall sports season.
QUINCY The Quincy Jackrabbits turned in a dominating performance at the Homecoming game, defeating the Medical Lake Cardinals 43-0 Friday.
The Jacks were stopped in the first quarter, but scored three times in the second quarter and once in the third to take a commanding lead.
Talking to the team after the game, Quincy coaches pointed out the Jacks will have a chance at the Caribou Trail League title next Friday in Cashmere. Quincy won its first CTL game in at least three years earlier this season.
Coach Russ Elliott said the team has benefited from its players with experience.
EPHRATA The Ephrata Tigers pulled away in the second half to take the 2023 Battle of the Basin over the Quincy Jackrabbits, 35-12, Friday night in Ephrata.
QUINCY The Quincy High School football team started fast, but East Valley (Yakima) had more speed in the end and defeated the Jacks 42-14 Friday night in the season opener for both teams.
“I think we just had trouble catching up to their speed,” said Quincy Coach Russ Elliott after the game. “They had some pretty good skill receivers out there. And they executed really well.” .
