Week eight was a short, but long week. As transmittal was looming, over 200 bills were dropped in the last two weeks. This led to a crunch last Saturday and again Monday. Saturday was a disappointing day for me. There were around 50 bills that came to the Senate floor and I can’t say any of them put folks to work or brought the state of Montana any money. I went home feeling a bit dismayed. I had waited for something of substance, but it never came. Then Monday was week nine with 93 bills on the agenda. We started at 8:30 a.m. and ran two agendas until around 10 p.m. With a third agen.

GREAT FALLS â Montana has become the third state to legalize lane filtering, with Gov. Greg Gianforte signing a bill on Wednesday that legalizes it under certain conditions.
Senate Bill 9 allows drivers of two-wheeled motorcycles to overtake stopped or slow-moving vehicles at a speed not greater than 20 mph, in order to filter between lanes of stopped traffic traveling in the same direction as conditions permit.
The bill specifies reasonable and prudent driving by motorcyclists when lane filtering.
The bill was sponsored by state Sen. Russ Tempel of Chester, and state Rep. Barry Usher of Billings. The bill takes effect on Oct. 1, 2021.
