Police out in force as part of North Yorkshire crime crackdown

A car stopped during a previous Operation Checkpoint crackdown POLICE were out in force as part of a crackdown on rural crime. North Yorkshire Police say dozens of officers and PCSOs were joined by local volunteers deployed for widespread patrols in the northern and central parts of the county last night, as part of Operation Checkpoint – a major clampdown on rural crime. The operation kept the pressure up on suspected poachers, with several being stopped, checked, and warned about their behaviour. North Yorkshire Police’s Rural Taskforce and Operational Support Unit worked alongside Neighbourhood Policing Teams, and were joined by 27 Rural Watch volunteers – who gave up their own time to keep their communities safe.

Poaching suspects flushed out by police drone in Teesdale

Poaching suspects have been flushed out by a police drone in Teesdale SUSPECTED poachers were given a bit of a shock when they were flushed out of a field by one of the force s drone. Normally used to help trace missing people, the technology has become a great tool for officers and had its first outing on a proactive operation with the Rural Watch team on Wednesday night. There drone was operated by officers from the Roads Policing Unit during the incident in Teesdale. After their game of hide-and-seek was brought to an end, the suspects who made attempts to flee, were challenged and reported for poaching and Covid offences.
