Native trees available: Campaspe Shire
Native seedlings are now available to Campaspe rural landowners for a subsidised cost through Council’s Rural Tree Scheme.
General Manager Infrastructure, Jason Deller, said those taking advantage of the scheme can improve their property’s landscape, create habitat for wildlife and introduce wind breaks.
“The scheme has approximately 40 indigenous plant species that are well suited to the Campaspe climate and soil types,” Dr Deller said.
“The plants available range from ground covers that grow to less than a metre, to trees that will grow more than 30 metres.”
“Council, along with local landcare groups, can provide advice on species selection and site preparation.”
