Ohio Event Spotlights Need to Prevent and Address Behavioral Health Crises

February 26, 2021 Ron Manderscheid, President and CEO, NACBHDD and NARMH Behavioral health crises have increased dramatically in the past year primarily due to the COVID-19 pandemic and its mitigation factors. This trend is part of the broader behavioral health pandemic now sweeping across the U.S. Consequently, new attention is being devoted to the development and improvement of state, county, and community behavioral health crisis response systems. I served as the initial speaker, followed by Camille Harding of the Colorado Department of Human Services and Margaret Sterling and Chaz Canter of Hopewell Health Centers in Ohio. The event drew nearly 300 participants.

Decision to convert former mill building in Carleton put on hold

A SCHEME to convert a former mill building in Carleton into two homes was deferred by Craven councillors because of concerns over the access. A proposal to go against officer recommendation and refuse the application by RN Wooler &Co to convert the three storey workshop off Park Lane - which has twice been given planning consent for residential conversion before - was put to one side and, following the advice of the planning manager, was deferred to a future meeting. Craven District Council’s planning committee, which debated the application for two hours before deferring it, will now consider the plans again, with clarification about the proposed visibility splays at the access - where traffic can be seen in both directions - from both North Yorkshire highways and the applicants agents, Rural Solutions.
