The University of Kentucky Center of Excellence in Rural Health (UK CERH) is currently accepting applications for the Healthcare Worker Loan Relief Program of the Commonwealth (HWLRPC) through the end of January.
Sydney Howard, data analyst at the University of Kentucky Center of Excellence in Rural Health, will speak in Washington, D.C., as an invited panelist at “Advancing Rural Health Equity through Partnerships, Data, and Finance,” a hybrid event hosted by the Urban Institute and Partners for Rural Transformation, 2-5 p.m., Oct. 18.
Through this initiative, funded with $35,000 from UnitedHealthcare Community Plan of Kentucky, 11 students from Hazard Independent and Perry County high schools have completed the training with Kentucky Homeplace and can now apply for CHW certification. Once completed, they will be able to serve as healthcare advocates providing education and guidance to help Eastern Kentuckians connect with healthcare resources.
