Out-of-control dogs kill 46 sheep in Suffolk 23 December 2020 | Police are appealing for witnesses after a number of sheep were killed in Suffolk Police are appealing for more information after out-of-control dogs are thought to have killed 46 sheep in Suffolk. The horrific livestock worrying incident happened in the East Bergholt area between Sunday 20 December and the following morning. Police officers received a report of a number of sheep killed or badly injured on land where livestock grazes in the Dazeley s Lane area. Around 16 were found dead at the time and around 30 others will need to be put down as a consequence of their injuries.

The sheep were killed after a dog attack in East Bergholt (stock image). - Credit: Archant More than a dozen sheep have been killed in a dog attack in East Bergholt, with 30 others needing to be put down as a result of their injuries.  The sheep were found mauled by dogs in Whitehorse Marsh, at the bottom of Dazeley’s Lane on the outskirts of the village, yesterday morning. 16 of the sheep died in the vicious attack - which saw many of their ears chewed off - with the rest suffering severe injuries.  Rupert Eley, the landowner, discovered what he described as carnage yesterday morning, and said it was devastating to see the sheep in this way.

30 sheep to be put down following attack in East Bergholt

ABOUT 30 sheep will need to be put down following a brutal attack on a flock in East Bergholt. Police have launched an appeal for witnesses after 16 sheep were killed, and dozens were badly wounded, on land where livestock grazes in the Dazeley s Lane area. The incident took place at some point between Sunday, December 20 and yesterday at 8am. About 16 sheep were found dead at the time and about30 others will need to be put down as a consequence of their injuries. It is strongly suspected that dogs off a lead had committed the attack on the sheep. Sgt Brian Calver from the Rural And Wildlife Crime Team: This is by far the worst case of an attack of sheep I have come across.
