Lawmakers want a task force to boost rural ambulance service PUBLISHED 3:15 PM ET May. 19, 2021 PUBLISHED 3:15 PM EDT May. 19, 2021 SHARE State lawmakers on Wednesday proposed a bill to study ways of strengthening ambulance services in rural areas of New York. The bill, supported Sen. Michelle Hinchey and Assemblyman Angelo Santabarbara, would create a task force whose goal would be to examine the challenges of ambulance services in rural areas as well as find long-term solutions to the issue. “For far too long, families in rural communities have dealt with unequal access to critical health care – an issue that has only been exacerbated by the COVID-19 pandemic,” Santabarbara said.
