City schools to address mental health of students Many of them are seeing deaths and diseases at home or in close family, which is taking a toll on their well-being
Several schools in the city have decided to address the mental health of students, especially those in junior classes, as they are forced to stay indoors for a second year in a row.
Many of these students are also seeing deaths and diseases at home or in close family, which is taking a toll on their well-being.
Schools are structuring their timetable to include separate time slots for teachers to interact informally with the students or giving them a “break” where the students interact among themselves with no adult interference.
ICSE schools prepare to start Class XI online lessons Move follows board notice cancelling class X board exams
ICSE schools in the city are planning to start Class XI early after the council cancelled the Class X exams on Monday and advised schools to start “online classes for the Class XI students at the earliest”.
Several schools said they were planning to start either by the end of this month or in the first week of May.
Schools are considering the students’ academic performance in Class X and IX before granting them admission.
In some schools, admission tests have been conducted in science subjects and mathematics to assess the students’ aptitude.
Several schools have decided to stagger their reopening and only call to the campus the students of Classes X and XII for now.
The state government has allowed schools to reopen for Classes IX to XII, but several heads said their focus was on the students preparing for the board exams who need to test their preparedness.
The phased reopening will help schools space out students and not crowd the campuses at any point of time, at least two school heads said.
La Martiniere for Girls, St James’ School, South Point and Sri Sri Academy will start with Classes X and XII. Modern High School for Girls and Mahadevi Birla World Academy are starting with only Class XII.
La Martiniere for Boys gives exam dates for X, XII More schools ready and keen on practicals
La Martiniere for Boys has gone ahead and announced dates for exams to be held on the campus. Several other schools are ready with their calendar, too, but are holding back from announcing the dates because the state government is yet to give a nod.
In a notice for Classes X and XII, La Martiniere for Boys said on-site rehearsal exams for Class X will be held from February 22 to March 5; and on-site rehearsal exams for Class XII from Thursday, February 18 to 20 and from March 1 to 5, “but both are subject to directives from the state government and parental consent.”
