SIR – Despite Sir Keir Starmer’s dizzy rhetoric about seismic swings and new horizons for Labour (telegraph.co.uk, May 3), the turnout in the Blackpool South by-election was only 32 per cent.

SIR – The idea that voting for Reform UK could result in the party replacing the Conservatives in the longer term (Letters, April 29) is a fantasy. The electoral arithmetic simply doesn’t work that way, and the suggestion that we should regard a decade of Labour government as a price worth paying is glib. Labour’s cultural and social agenda is diametrically opposed to the worldview of those drawn to Reform. I would advise anyone considering supporting this party to read Hilaire Belloc’s poem Jim
SIR – I received an NHS letter postmarked February 9 at 12.30pm on February 16. My X-ray appointment was for 3pm. Thankfully I was able to attend. Had the appointment been sooner, it would have been another one missed.
