Air Liquide has signed a ten-year contract with Shell Energy Europe (Shell) that will see the industrial gas giant purchasing 52 gigawatt-hours per year of solar photovoltaic renewable energy from Shell.
Shell Energy Europe is to buy power from Solaria from solar farms in Spain totalling 300MW under a long-term power purchase agreement (PPA).
The energy will be supplied from six solar projects that will produce around 570 gigawatt hours of electricity per year.
The projects will be connected to the grid progressively through 2021.
The duration of the PPA is 10 years, with power deliveries starting upon commissioning of the facilities.
Shell Energy Europe general manager for power Rupen Tanna said: “This solar power purchase agreement will enable us to supply more clean power to our customers, while also helping to support the continued growth of renewable power in Spain.”
