The rupee was quoting at 83.0750 to the U.S. dollar at 10:52 a.m. IST, up from 83.3350 in the previous session, and potentially headed for its best day in nearly six months.
Rupee At Record Low: The rupee hit its record low of 83.42 during the session after breaching its previous alltime low of 83.2950 which was hit on Nov. 1.
Market sources told ET that the trading outage, which occurred around mid-day, resulted in orders drying up, exacerbating volatility in the rupees exchange rate amid a global selloff in stocks and bonds due to hawkish comments by the US Federal Reserve chairman
The rupee ended at 83.28 against the U.S. dollar, compared with its close at 83.2725 in the previous session. It remained in a tight range between 83.26 and 83.29 during the day s session.
