president s top economic adviser says give positive thinking a chance. well, i ll tell you what, i sure don t see a recession. we re doing pretty darn well in my judgment. let s not be afraid of optimism. so i say about everything in life. boris sanchez is at the white house. boris for the white house, they surely are on message to the economic message they want out there. but what are you hearing behind-the-scenes? privately concerns about the economy have long been a running theme in the president s conversations with his staff. as you know, frequently when he talks about his accomplishments, the economy, the strength of the american economy, is almost always near the top. the president privately has talked to aides about concerns that this ongoing trade war with china could hurt his chances for reelection. that s part of the reason that you saw him delay these tariffs on china going to december 15th. the president apparently swayed
what are they warning us of today? you have a few retailers, costco being one of them, warning they are willing to raise their price. they warned yesterday at the end of the day prices will go up on thins. right now it s hard to predict when that s going to happen because the second round of tariffs isn t set in stone. you have costco, family dollar, dollar general, all warning that they plan to increase prices. since i m talking about the dollar store, you have dollar tree announcing they re trying to rejuvenate family dollar. they acquired family dollar in 2015. sales haven t been the greatest. they re adding a new product to their stores. that product is alcohol. the running theme seems to be in my head today. they re adding alcohol to 1,000 family dollar stores. overall, what we do know from these retailers, is that prices
