Mayors weigh citations for abandoned vehicles
The newly elected officers of the Mayors’ Council of Guam added citation training to the business agenda, touting citations as part of a greater vision to eliminate illegal dumping, in the first meeting of the year at the Sinajana Senior Center.
Jesse Alig, the president of the 26-member council, suggested mayors issue citations for illegal dumping, loose pets or public nuisances to the neighborhood. A citation works like a speeding ticket, Alig said. Once a resident receives a citation, they have the right to contest it in court. If the judge approves the citation, the fine can affect a person’s record, he continued.
