Rudra Amin, 28, was found guilty of four counts of sexual assault one count against each of the first two women, and two counts against the third woman after a jury trial this summer. He was released on bail pending the hearing of his appeal.
A Crown prosecutor is recommending that Rudra Amin, who was found guilty of sexually assaulting three women in Whitehorse, be sentenced to at least four years jail and also be listed on Canada's National Sex Offender Registry.
Yukon Supreme Court Justice Karen Wenckebach ruled in a decision last month that the Crown’s conduct during the 2022 trial of Rudra Amin was unacceptable and the granting of costs rare in criminal cases was warranted.
