With San Antonio’s runoff quickly approaching on June 5 and early voting underway, local residents are taking the time to express their sentiments about candidates ahead of casting their votes.
Or at least toward District 9 candidate Patrick Von Dohlen.
Earlier this week, a Reddit user shared a photo of a set of signs they had seen. Next to Von Dohlen’s conservative campaign sign promoting his “pro-freedom, pro-family, pro-business, pro-law and order, pro-Second Amendment and pro-common sense” values was a homemade sign pointing at the political ad saying Von Dohlen hates equality. The sign was spotted near Brookhollow and Heimer, but has since been taken down.

In a May 18 press release, the Stonewall Democrats of San Antonio strongly urged” voters not to cast ballots in the June 5 runoff election for District 9 candidate Patrick Von Dohlen citing his “extensive history of inciting anti-LGBTQIA hate.” In the District 9 runoff, Von Dohlen is facing off against incumbent John Courage who received 47% of the vote in the general election. Von Dohlen also ran for the District 9 seat in 2019 and 2017 but didn t make it into the runoffs either time.
