muscle fatigue: Research finds long Covid's muscle fatigue linked to depletion of ACE2 receptors

Researchers at the University of Malta have found that depletion of ACE2 receptors, which permit SARS-CoV-2 to enter cells and cause COVID-19, is behind the neuromuscular complications experienced by a significant number of COVID-19 patients, according to a study published in the journal Biochimica et Biophysica Acta. ACE2 depletion is thought to be linked to lasting effects of the disease, including fatigue, breathlessness, brain fog and muscle weakness.
