James Brennand, 28, shot Erik Cantu, 17, on October 2 in San Antonio, leaving him with serious injuries and although he last week returned home from hospital, he has a long road to recovery.
Erik Cantu, 17, returned in time for Thanksgiving, having arrived at his home in San Antonio almost two months after the incident, his family confirmed in a statement Wednesday.
Erik Cantu Sr. and Victoria Casarez, the parents of Erik Cantu Jr., spoke publicly on Tuesday for the first time since their son’s shooting by former San Antonio police officer James Brennand. They said their son was still fighting for his life in the hospital, and they called for justice for their son.
High-profile civil rights attorney Ben Crump, who represented the family of Trayvon Martin and George Floyd, is now representing the family of Erik Cantu, the 17-year-old shot by now-charged former San Antonio Police Department officer James Brennand.
