this morning, gunmen assassinated, haiti s president at his home. they also wounded his wife by gunshot. the prime minister confirmed the killing and condemned it as, quote, barbaric act. the country of haiti faces political uncertainty and escalating violence amid antigovernment protests. tropical storm allison is pummeling florida s west coast with heavy rain and strong winds as it nears landfall today. a hurricane warning is in effect for the west coast as the storm is threatening flooding, wind damage, and even severe power outages. meantime, the weather is disrupting search efforts at that collapse condo in surfside, florida. the death toll now stands at 46 after fire rescue officials confirmed ten bodies were from the rubble today. the hometown heroes ticker tape parade in new york city will honor the heroes of the covid-19 pandemic today.
good evening to you this holiday weekend. welcome to a special edition of out front. i m jim sciutto in for erin burnett. we just learned that another body has been pulled from the wreckage of the catastrophic condo collapse in florida. three bodies were found earlier today. that now leaves 28 people confirmed dead, yet 117 still unaccounted for and missing. the latest victims were found after the remaining units of the champlain south towers condo building were demolished late last night. we re told portions of the building were only being held up by the rubble pile. the mayor of miami-dade telling cnn that the demolition helped rescue teams get to new areas of the rubble today. that building, as you can see, now completely leveled. that was it before on the left and after on the right there, after last night s implosion.
unforgettable. then there is christina elvira. there are 151 people still unaccounted for. it has been five days since the south tower collapsed. but despite that rescuers are adamant they have not given up hope that they could still find someone alive. family members are holding on to hope as best they can that the rescuers are right. ayman? people are allowed to visit the site of the collapse. what you are hearing about how they re feeling as they await news about loved ones? more have been able to visit the rubble today. obviously, it s a little tricky given the weather. i just spoke to the mayor of miami-dade county and she told us that buses carrying family members, they made trips to the site today. not only to be close, perhaps, to their loved ones to see and
what happened here just yesterday afternoon. you can actually see the tornado moved in a northeasterly direction here, about 25 to thif miles an ho 35 miles per hour. this town is only about one square mile so that equals about 75% of this town. unfortunately this isn t just one lone incident yesterday. we saw incidents like this all across iowa, nebraska and even wisconsin. let s move, guys. reporter: an incredible outbreak of deadly tornados tearing through northeastern nebraska monday resulting in a rare and stunning sight. where has that happened before? reporter: storm chasers capturing not one, but two massive tornados side by side on the ground, ripping through the town of pilger. that s a town. that s the water tower. reporter: the twin tornados surprising even the storm chasers who thought the video. two, possibly three. i ve never seen anything like this. this is just very, very dangerous. this is definitely the first time i ve seen two tornados like that, tha
