Iraqi forces have made more gains in west mosul, the largest city still under the control of the Islamic State group. They claim to have cut the last road out of the city. Government troops, backed by a us led coalition, recaptured the east of the city in late january, after more than 100 days of fighting. Now they say a third of the west, which is almost completely surrounded, has been retaken.
