After six weeks of striking, academic employees represented by United Auto Workers, or UAW, 2865 and SRU-UAW voted to ratify the tentative agreements with the University of California on Friday bringing an end to the largest academic workers strike in U.S. history.
Academic workers conducting a sit-in protest at the UC Office of the President, or UCOP, in the city of Sacramento were arrested Monday amid union strikes throughout the UC system.
In a historic first, the Berkeley Faculty Association, or BFA, hosted a joint rally with UC-AFT Local 1474 in solidarity with UAW Local 2865, UAW Local 5810 and SRU-UAW on Wednesday.
