UWWC STATEMENT:
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, many community membershave been affected by it. Therefore, many organizations had to increase their capacity in a sizable manner. Stand with Trans is an organization whose mission is to provide the tools needed by transgender youth, so they will be empowered, supported, and validated as they transition to their authentic life. In its initial funding partnership, UWWC funded Stand with Trans from the COVID-19 Community Recovery Fund Grant. $10,000 was granted for the provision of outreach, virtual engagement and supports to trans youth and their families, designed to be a relief from the monotony of social distancing and long periods of self-isolation with family especially for trans youth who are forced to take shelter with unsupportive family members.
