Warren Car Park Royston: Possible COVID-19 testing site

The Warren car park in Royston. - Credit: Google Street View The Warren car park in Royston is being considered as a location for a new coronavirus testing site.  The government s drive-through and walk-through local test sites are usually open seven days a week for people with symptoms to be tested for coronavirus.  Currently there are drive -through sites in Hertford, Broxbourne, Watford, Hemel Hempstead, Stevenage and Welwyn Garden City for everyone living or working in Hertfordshire. As around 1 in 3 people with coronavirus do not have any symptoms, there are also sites in the country where people without symptoms can take rapid tests - including Royston Leisure Centre.

North Herts leisure centres to receive £2m lifeline

Some of this cost will be covered by grants and compensation received, or expected to be received, from government, but the majority will come from NHDC funds. NHDC’s executive member for leisure Councillor Steve Jarvis said: “Our much-loved leisure centres are really important assets for our community. They will play an essential role in supporting people’s physical and mental health once the current lockdown restrictions are eased, so it is vitally important we do everything we can to protect them and support our leisure partner through this challenging period. “Their loss would have a negative impact on the health and wellbeing of residents in North Herts at the worst possible time. It is therefore important that we provide the necessary financial assistance to safeguard their future.”
