Professor Carole Mundell
Biography
Professor Carole Mundell was appointed Chief International Science Envoy at the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office in January 2021. Previously Professor Mundell was Chief Scientific Adviser at the Foreign and Commonwealth Office. She is Professor of Extragalactic Astronomy at the University of Bath where she holds the Hiroko Sherwin Chair in Extragalactic Astronomy, and a Fellow of the Institute of Physics.

Facundo Batista, who is a Professor at Harvard Medical School and the first Associate Director of the Ragon Institute of MGH, MIT and Harvard, Cambridge/USA, takes up the appointment with immediate effect. He takes over from Bernd Pulverer, Head of Scientific Publishing at EMBO after a decade in the role, who will lead EMBO Reports as Chief Editor.
