2021 Hamilton Island Race Week: 200 entries and climbing

Hamilton Island Race Week 2019 © Salty Dingo Entries for Hamilton Island Race Week 2021 have surged past 200, leaving regatta organisers to consider placing a cap on the final fleet number. The largest Race Week fleet to date came in 2016 when 252 yachts competed on the sparkling tropical waters of the Whitsunday region. Based on current booking pace, this year s fleet is set to exceed that record. Regatta organisers will consider implementing the cap to ensure that Hamilton Island Race Week delivers the same high standards as previous years. Entries are still open and any yacht owners yet to register are encouraged to do so as soon as possible.

Airlie Beach Race Week: Fast boats quick on the draw with early entries

Little Nico in form at Airlie Beach Race Week in 2017 © Andrea Francolini Adrian Walters was quick on the draw when entries opened for Airlie Beach Race Week 2021; his fun and fast Rob Shaw 11 Metre design, Little Nico, was the first entry received by the Whitsunday Sailing Club (WSC) and other boats that are speedy on the water closely followed suit. Walters, from NSW commented, I m not surprised we re first; I like to be organised. We re coming back because I had so much fun last time we were there (2017). The Middle Harbour Yacht Club sailor can credit his boat manager, Mitch White, for being first in. White, who has been around the sailing scene for a long time, has run Little Nico s boat program for years.

The BrisVegas Windfoil Pro at Royal Queensland Yacht Squadron

Windfoil Nationals 2020 © Mitchell Pearson / SurfSailKite Windsurfing Queensland will be hosting the Bris Vegas Windfoil Pro from January 29 to 31 at The Royal Queensland Yacht Squadron. Sponsored by Patrik Windsurfing, three days of epic racing in summer sea breezes is expected on the beautiful sailing grounds of Waterloo Bay. Twenty-two entries have already been confirmed with over two weeks to go until the first warning signal, with only two entries not originating from Queensland. This is a sensational number considering current border restrictions and uncertainty of pain free travel to the Sunshine State. Event organizer Mitch Pearson said that While it is a disappointment not to be able to get a full fleet from across the country into the state in this environment it is extremely heartening to have so many entries from Queensland. This shows to us that the class has a bright future in Queensland and that we have the potential to be a real force in the class
