British planes evacuate Australians from Beirut
The three Australian embassy staff in Beirut and at least 11 other Australians were evacuated from Beirut last night in a British airlift of more than 400 people.
The airlift was completed as Israeli aircraft bombed targets in an area of the Lebanese mountains controlled by Moslem militias, according to Government and Opposition radio stations.
A British Royal Navy helicopter lifts off with some of the evacuees.
